In an effort to expand and unite the city, Ho Chi Minh City opened inter-district Nguyen Van Cu Street on Tuesday and also started dredge work on Monday on the Soai Rap River to develop the city to the East Sea.

Recently, the unability of big passenger ship to call at Saigon port has raised a question: which shipsize can call? The answer carries a highly important meaning for the economic and tourism developments of HCM city. Concerning this matter, we have a discussion with Mr. Tran Tan Phuc–General Director of PortCoast regarding the consulting the movement plan of ports on Saigion river and the detailed project of port complex in HCM city, Dong Nai province and Baria-Vung Tau until 2010 and orienting to 2020.

River dredged to ease ship access

Dredging of the Soai Rap River began yesterday to facilitate access for large ships to port in HCM City and its surrounding areas.
The deepening will help create a second route from the sea for giant vessels in addition to theone through Long Tau River.
